Description
This black and white picture of Hunting Island Lighthouse Beaufort South Carolina was taken while on a photography assignment in the low country by Bob Pardue, USA.
The fine art b & w photo shown here is available in different sizes and available as framed prints, canvas, wood and other photographic formats.
Confederate soldiers destroyed the original Hunting Island Lighthouse during the Civil War so the Union Navy could not use it for navigation.
Hunting Island's historic lighthouse is one of the island's most iconic features. In 1859, it guided vessels along the coast between Charleston and Savannah and into the Port Royal and St. Helena Sounds.
The only public lighthouse on the South Carolina coast, it is one of only eight existing lighthouses.
A 360-degree view of the beach, Atlantic Ocean, and maritime forest is available after climbing 167 steps to the top.
I hope you enjoyed viewing this b & w photo of Hunting Island Lighthouse Beaufort South Carolina and will choose it to add to your living room decor.
