A Photographic View of Key West Lighthouse from Behind Floridian Trees

A beautiful structure in the Florida Keys, the Key West Lighthouse pays tribute to the people who once lived in the region. These individuals include:

- People of Native American descent,

- The African-American community,

- Key West's original white settlers.

One of the oldest continuously operating lighthouses in the United States, the lighthouse was built in 1848.

A brief history of Key West's lighthouse

It is eighty feet tall and constructed of limestone, with an observation gallery at the top. In 1848, a whale-oil lamp was used to illuminate the lighthouse. It was built by Isaac Aylsworth for the US Navy. In 1906, an electric arc lamp was introduced to replace the whale-oil lamp, and in 1995, 2 million candles were installed in a new light system. As the American poet Shannon L. Alder once wrote: “The moon will guide you through the night with her brightness, but she will always dwell in the darkness, in order to be seen.”

What a magnificent view!

On the top of the lighthouse, visitors can take in the breathtaking view of Key West from the observation gallery. From this vantage point, you can see palm trees swaying in the breeze and blue waters stretching into infinity. Don't forget your camera and you'll be able to show your friends about your exciting travels! The neighboring islands of Cuba and Mexico can even be seen on clear days!

How Many Steps Can You Climb?

The winding staircases will reward you with breathtaking panoramic views that will last a lifetime as you climb up them. But don't forget to count your steps! If you lose track, you'll have to start all over again.

Once up those stairs, you will find one of the most gorgeous sunset spots in Florida - perfect for amazing photos! Visitors to Key West are welcome to climb to the top of this majestic lighthouse for a memorable experience.

In addition to being an impressive photograph, the Key West Lighthouse photo also symbolizes courage and strength. Even in difficult times, beauty can still be found, and life will always find its way back to us.
