Key West Florida: The summers are hot in the South Florida town of Key West but Jean and Bob Pardue braved the heat to get a look at one of the town's favorite attractions. "Key West Lighthouse and Keepers Quarters Museum is a fine art photographer's dream." says Pardue as he proudly shows a subdued color art print of the tip of the lighthouse peeking over the green palm trees.
The lighthouse pictured here opened in 1848. But, the oddest characteristic? A woman was installed as its Keeper. This seldom happened during the 19th century. The Key West Lighthouse underwent a number of upgrades during the following years. Today, the museum represents a maritime heritage as part of Key West history.
While visiting, Pardue, along with his wife (and traveling companion) Jean reflected about Bob's military service of years past where they lived abroad as newlyweds.
