The South Carolina marshlands are a beautiful and unique ecosystem that has been recognized and celebrated by people, animals, birds, and plants that call it home. Spanning nearly the entire state, these wetlands provide a variety of habitats to a wide variety of species.
The marshes are especially important for the various bird species that rely on them for nesting, migration, and overwintering during the months of September through March.
