During the Art Nouveau era, Gustav Klimt (1862-1918) was one of the greatest Austrian symbolist painters.
By using symbols, often derived from nature or the spiritual world, symbolist painters sought to express philosophical ideas, emotions, and states of mind.
In addition to being one of the most prominent founding members, he was also the first president of the Vienna Secession movement (Vienna Art Nouveau).
Known for his numerous racy drawings, Klimt mainly focused on female figures in his paintings, murals, and sketches.
With decorative techniques and the use of gold leaf in his paintings, Klimt found financial success during his "Golden Phase."
As a result of his extensive use of gold leaf, the female figures in his paintings often had a dreamlike quality, which accentuated their ethereal quality.
This beautiful painting makes perfect wall decor for a bedroom or den.
