Description
This color photo of Hoover Dam was taken by Bob Pardue while on a photography assignment in Nevada.
The Hoover Dam, formerly known as Boulder Dam, is a dam on the Colorado River in Black Canyon between Arizona and Nevada. In 1930 and 1936, it was constructed as the tallest concrete arch dam in the United States.
The fine art print shown here is available in different sizes and available as framed prints, canvas, wood and different photographic formats. This Arizona photograph is set for 11x14 frame size.
Hoover Dam provides flood control, hydroelectric power, agricultural irrigation, and domestic water supply. This dam is also a major tourist attraction. Herbert Hoover was the U.S. president during whose administration (1929–33) it was named.
The Hoover Dam Bypass Project began construction in January 2005, and the bridge opened for traffic in October 2010, the longest concrete arch bridge in North America for its type. For visitors to the dam, the old road along the crest is reserved.
