Description
Photo of Lake Mead at Hoover Dam bordering Nevada and Arizona, USA.
Within minutes of Las Vegas is a national park that is home to Joshua trees, slot canyons, and night skies filled with the Milky Way. It is a park where the rocks are red as fire and the mountains are purple. This area belongs to the Lake Mead National Recreation Area.
Boulder Dam, which was later renamed Hoover Dam, was built as a result of the Reclamation Act of 1902. Elwood Mead, the Bureau of Reclamation commissioner at the time, named Lake Mead after the damming of the Colorado River. The number of visitors to Lake Mead National Recreation Area is expected to reach 7.6 million in 2021.
Enjoy a day at the beach, take a boat out and disappear for hours, or anchor in a cove with over 750 miles of shoreline.
This wall art photo of Lake Mead works well for office or home decor.
