The USS Clamagore 343 submarine is a historic vessel located at the Patriot's Point Naval & Maritime Museum in Charleston, South Carolina. The Clamagore 343 is the last remaining member of the Sturgeon-class submarines and was commissioned in 1945. During its 24 years of service, the USS Clamagore 343 submarine was used for Cold War operations, including surveillance operations in both the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. It also participated in training exercises to prepare for wartime operations and underwent various modernization upgrades. In 1971, it was decommissioned and transferred to the Patriot's Point Naval & Maritime Museum in 1975. Today, the USS Clamagore 343 submarine is open to the public and offers visitors a look into the history of the United States Navy.
Visitors can explore the “third world” living quarters, crew mess, and its control room as well as learn about its historical significance.
