Description
E.A. Séguy's vintage butterflies (1925) insect illustration. Original public domain image from Biodiversity Heritage Library. Digitally enhanced by rawpixel and Bob Pardue.
Emile-Alain Seguy was a French artist who produced eleven albums in the 20th century. He used intricate Art Nouveau patterns and vibrant Art Deco geometric floral patterns.
Through stencils, he applied pigment to paper using an innovative printing technique called Pochoir. Seguy’s art pieces were highly sought after, but his printing technique was extremely difficult to master.
Nevertheless, he was able to master it and create pieces of art that are still admired today. He is credited with popularizing Art Nouveau and Art Deco in France and inspiring other artists to experiment with the medium.
This picture of colorful butterflies works great as a wall hanging to enhance your living room decor or a kitchen / den.
